Overview
Cart properties are the option names and values customers see on the cart, checkout, and order line. You control which shopper options are sent, whether pricing variables are included, the order of those rows, and whether the line uses the customer’s language or your default language.
Configure this in Calculator Editor → Optional Features → Cart properties. This is separate from Price Summary (the on-page price breakdown) and from Edit options from the cart (letting customers change the line after add to cart).
Steps
- Open the calculator and go to Optional Features → Cart properties.
- Review the Line properties list. Eligible options appear automatically. Uncheck an option to keep it on the product page without sending it to the cart or order.
- Use the up and down arrows to set the order of options and variables together. That order is what customers see on the cart and what appears on the order.
- To send a computed value such as area or rounded width, choose it from Add a variable. Give it a display name customers will understand, then format the value with
{result} (for example {result} m²). Set decimal places if needed.
- If languages are enabled, turn on Send cart options in the customer’s language when names and choice values should follow the shopper language. Leave it off to keep Shopify cart, checkout, and packing slips in your default language.
- Save and publish.

If the calculator uses Product Designer or live personalization, those system rows can be unchecked so the public line hides the link. Staff can still open files from the order in the app. |
- Hidden calculator options (visibility rules or the storefront eye toggle) are never sent, even if they stay checked in this list.
- Image swatches that sync to a Shopify variant are not listed — that choice already becomes the cart variant.
- Display-only options (heading, divider, spacer, content) are not sent.
- Chat with AI can hide or show options, add variables, set the order, and turn language sending on or off. It cannot invent Shopify variant IDs for add-on products.
Examples
- Keep internal notes off the order — You have a staff-only notes option used in formulas. Uncheck it in Cart properties so customers and packing slips never see it.
- Show computed area on the line — Add the AREA variable, name it Area, and set the template to
{result} m². The cart line shows the calculated area next to Size and Material.
- Translated packing slips — Turn on send-in-the-customer’s-language so French shoppers see Largeur on the order. Fulfillment staff switch to your default language on the Orders page when they need the original labels.
