Chat with AI is the yellow-sparkle chat in the calculator editor. Describe what you sell in plain English and the assistant adds or updates options, pricing, visibility, value rules, steps, and styling. You can still edit everything by hand. Chat is available on every wizard step — it is not a separate Build with AI step.
New calculators open with chat ready. On a laptop it sits as a column beside your settings. On a phone or tablet it opens over the options so they stay full width. Open chat or preview on a small screen — not both at once.
Chat only reports a change after it is written into the calculator. If it cannot do something, it says so instead of claiming the work is done.
You can attach files with the paperclip, or drag an image, CSV, or Excel file onto the chat panel. On Personalization and Designer, chat explains that it cannot edit those tabs yet. You can still ask about the rest of the calculator.
| Detail | Description |
|---|---|
| Where to find it | Chat with AI in the calculator editor. Not a wizard step. |
| AI credits | Each request consumes AI credits from your plan's monthly allowance. |
| Supported input | Plain English, plus optional images or CSV/Excel files. Be specific about option types and pricing. |
| Editing after AI | Everything the assistant writes is fully editable in the manual editor. |
| Photos on choices | Attach or paste one photo or several in a single message and say which dropdown, color, or swatch choice each picture belongs on. Large phone photos are shrunk before they are sent. If a picture cannot be read or made small enough, chat tells you. |
| Swatch icons | Ask chat to generate icons for a set of choices. The first icon you approve sets the style — color, fold, lighting — and the rest follow it while each choice keeps its own shape. Describe a change and the next picture follows your words. Attach a photo and say “generate an image for Outside Mount similar to this” to use the photo as a reference instead of placing it on the choice. |
| Look and style | Ask for colors, borders, and other look changes, or attach a screenshot of the look you want. Chat writes the result into the calculator's style CSS. A mistyped color or a size without a unit is corrected or refused rather than written as a style that does nothing. You can still use the AI Style Assistant on Placement & Styling if you prefer that panel. |
| Advanced settings | Chat can change most Advanced settings by name: popup title, width, text, and trigger look; quantity custom entry; button image position and equal heights; swatch hover preview and carousel; selection limits; image padding; decimal places; date format and blocked weekdays; SKU fragments; and hiding an option from the storefront. A modal's Show on option label is set in the editor. |
| Rules | Chat writes visibility rules ("hide Rush order unless Size is 2in or 3in") and value rules ("when Size is Custom, set Quantity to 1"; "force Finish to Matte for custom shapes"). Conditions can read a choice, a text field ("if Notes mention rush"), a pricing variable ("when AREA is over 1000"), or compare against a formula ("Quantity is more than twice the Width"). Say "they can still change it" for a one-time auto-fill; otherwise the value is locked while the condition holds. Popup content rules are set in the editor; file upload and font picker options do not take value rules. |
| Pricing | Set a price from one example, add quantity discounts or rate tables, attach a spreadsheet, and put the price and discount beside each quantity choice. Ask for a change to what is already there — a choice's price, a default, a required setting — and chat updates the existing option instead of building a new one. |
| Phone and tablet | Chat covers settings. Minimize chat to use preview, or minimize preview to use chat. When chat offers a swatch to approve or a card with buttons, your next message appears under that card. |
